Algonquin Explorer

Step out of the city & experience the best of “up north” in Algonquin

Algonquin Park is a vast wilderness located in central Ontario between the beautiful vistas of Georgian Bay and the Ottawa Valley, often considered to be the border between Southern and Northern Ontario. While this Algonquin experience is one of our southern Ontario getaways, it will give you a taste of “up north” within easy drive of Toronto.

Head out on a wildlife excursion to spot moose, learn to paddle like a pro on a guided canoe ride or hike to beautiful forested vistas — it is like summer camp for adults but with comfortable, private accommodation and delicious food. Try something new each day as you explore Algonquin Provincial Park in a variety of intimate and interactive learning experiences. You’ll end each day tucked in under a feather duvet listening to loons howl on the lake.

Some of the available experiences include:

• Guided paddling or hiking excursions with a focus on connecting to nature.
• Opportunities for solo exploration via canoe, kayak, bike, hike, or standup paddleboard (SUP).
• Interactive learning experiences with facilitators who are eager to share their passions with you: hands-on wildlife exhibits and stories, art, gardening, beekeeping, music, pizza-making, wild-crafting, and more.
• Wildlife excursions with a good chance to spot moose and other wildlife in their natural habitat

Your Algonquin Explorer includes heartwarming meals made from scratch with local ingredients and comfortable forest cabin accommodations.

After arriving, settle into your cabin and get to know other guests. Your next few days can be as quiet or active as you’d like.

Hit the water with a guided SUP, kayak or canoe excursion through lakes Kawawaymog, Nahma, Craig, North Tea, and the Amable du Fond river. Share a bike-and-hike to Moose Mountain or the Tower Trail, enjoy a dip in the lake after an outdoor wood-fired sauna, and as always, savor chef Gregor’s award-winning food experiences. All outdoor equipment use is included.

Rise early one morning and paddle the Amable du Fond River in the mist on a Morning Tea with a Moose excursion to seek out moose, Algonquin’s most majestic mammal, while sipping Algonquin Tea. Enjoy a variety of workshops & hands-on learning experiences.

Southern Ontario Getaway in Algonquin Park

Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park takes up nearly 8,000 square kilometres, making it larger than Prince Edward Island! With all that wilderness, it can be intimidating to explore the backcountry. What we love about the Algonquin Explorer trip is that it provides access for incredible outdoor adventures that feel like you are in the depths of the park while being incredibly accessible to those living in Southern Ontario. And if you don’t like the idea of camping, this is the perfect wilderness excursion for you.
