On this 3-day experience, you will search for gold on the historic Li-lik-hel Mine Expedition. You will also ride on trails that were originally cut by the miners in the early 1900s. Spend three days and two nights in BC’s spectacular Coast Mountain Range. During this time, you’ll do the following:
– Explore the beautiful mountain range between Birkenhead Lake and the Li-lik-hel mine.
– Experience rivers, lakes, forests, alpine meadows, old mine packhorse trails and single tracks.
– Ride sure-footed gentle mountain horses that carry you to the base camp where our guides set up and cook dinner around the campfire.
Over the three days, you will get to know the horse, picked to match your abilities and learn to appreciate their nature. In our view, this is one of the best ways to explore the incredible mountainscape that is BC’s Coast Mountain Range. If you’d like even more options, consider our range of BC Experiences, and please get in touch if you have any questions. Your big horseback adventure in BC could be just a few clicks away!
Bright and early on the first day of the expedition, we’ll drive you to the trailhead from the ranch in Pemberton where you’ll meet your horse and guides. The first day will find you riding 15 kilometres to our base camp, passing by a recent mine claim exploration.
At camp, you will then meet up with your luggage (maximum weight of 30lbs). The base camp is equipped with a hot shower and outdoor plumbing along with tents mounted on platforms to provide you with that extra level of comfort. All your meals will be provided.
The next day we will ride to the historic Li-lik-hel mine where you can explore the original mine site and see how the old hard rock miners extracted gold ore by following the veins in the rock. From base camp, you can also enjoy day rides to various locations of interest. Each day will end with a campfire under the stars and a good night's sleep in the comfortable tent lodgings.
On the last day we have a variety of trails that we can use to get you back to the trailhead, but the choices are up to the group riding.
