Marmot Basin is located in beautiful Jasper National Park, just 19 km south of Jasper, Alberta.
It offers more than 1,720 acres of uncrowded alpine terrain for every level skier and snowboarder — powder, moguls, trees, alpine bowls and gentle slopes. From a top elevation of 2,612 metres and a vertical drop of 914 metres, you can ski 86 named trails. Various levels of runs can be accessed from most lifts, so skiers of different abilities can still enjoy the day together.
Seven lifts, including 4 high-speed quads, 1 triple, 1 double and a Magic Carpet that lift lines are short even on the busiest days. Jasper National Park is Canada’s biggest Rocky Mountain park. The scenery is most spectacular in the winter — elk move through the lowlands and waterfalls are suspended, frozen in time. Other activities include ice fishing, guided backcountry ski trips, ice climbing and skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is a 700-acre luxury mountain resort that wraps around the shores of Lac Beauvert. Surrounded by the snow-capped Rockies, this resort of interconnected log cabins and picturesque paths feels like a winter wonderland. Spend your evening enjoying the hotel’s amenities or head down to Jasper town for more dining and shopping opportunities.
On your leisure time off the slopes, we recommend booking a guided Maligne Canyon Ice-Walk Tour. This tour is one of Jasper’s most popular and impressive winter activities. You’ll get the chance to go to the bottom of the canyon, which is the deepest accessible canyon in the park, and explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves and incredible ice formations.
