DAY 1

TO START THE DAY OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT

Meet the most majestic creatures of the planet with Croisières AML. Onboard a boat or zodiac, follow our naturalist guides who will share with you their passion for the various marine mammals living in the St. Lawrence Estuary. On the schedule: whale-watching and exploring the Saguenay Fjord.

TO END THE DAY

Staying at an outfitter in the vicinity of Baie-Sainte-Catherine provides a total change of scenery, so impressive are the forest and welcoming hosts. Between friends or family, in any season, Charlevoix’s outfitters are preferred places close to urban centers. On the schedule: fishing, wildlife observation and canoeing.

DAY 2

WHERE TO SPEND THE DAY

Discover the Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-laRivière-Malbaie. You will find a great variety of landscape forms: glacial valleys carving high plateaux, white waters taking turns with still waters, and tumbling waterfalls and cascades. On the schedule: riverboat cruise, canoeing and kayaking, bicycling, hiking and nature interpretation.

RELISH THE END OF THE DAY

Go and meet the producers of the Flavour Trail: Celebrate the region’s terroir! For a snack or a magnificent repast, epicureans feast on a gastronomy cuisine that seduces even the finest palates. Charlevoix’s Flavour Trail – born from the producer’s original and festive creativity – dazzles the most curious. On the schedule: meet the passionate producers and taste 100% Charlevoix products. Spend the night in the vicinity of La Malbaie.

DAY 3

WHERE TO SPEND THE DAY

Board the Train de Charlevoix. Travelling between Québec City and La Malbaie over more than 125 km, the train stops in 7 towns and coastal villages. Leave the train at the village of Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive to discover it on foot. Visit the Musée Maritime de Charlevoix. The Musée narrates the story of the wooden schooners and cabotage on St. Lawrence on a 360° visit, from the forest to the river. On the schedule: visit the 4 boats in dry docks, discover the Parc des Navigateurs, challenge course and vegetal maze.

Visit the Papeterie Saint-Gilles paper mill. The artisans of the Papeterie Saint-Gilles make a thin cotton paper, with the region’s flowers or leaves embedded in it. Its studio, unique in Québec, and boutique made it the first ÉCONOMUSÉE® business of the country. On the schedule: learn more about the making of craft cotton paper and admire the creations.

Get back on board the Train de Charlevoix or continue your trip on Isle-aux-Coudres.

TO END THE DAY WELL

Take the ferry for Isle-aux-Coudres. Discover the charming and bucolic landscapes of Isle-aux-Coudres, known for its enchanting scenery and its hospitable inhabitants. On the schedule: enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and follow the St. Lawrence Route. Spend one night in Isle-aux-Coudres.

DAY 4

WHERE TO SPEND THE DAY

Take a scenic bike ride around the Isle. With its 23 km circumference and flat surface, Isle-aux-Coudres is ideal for leisurely bicycling while enjoying the incredible scenery. On the schedule: visit the producers of the Flavour Trail, savour a pâté croche («crooked pie») and admire the kite surfers.

WHAT TO DO IN THE LATE AFTERNOON

Discover the center of Baie-Saint-Paul. A true source of inspiration to several artists and artisans, Baie-Saint-Paul deploys its beauty in a valley where the du Gouffre River runs toward St. Lawrence. Art galleries abound while festivals and cultural events proliferate. On the schedule: shopping on rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste, browse the art galleries, visit the Musée d’art Contemporain de BaieSaint-Paul, savour a meal with local flavours and enjoy a typically Charlevoix beer.

Spend the night in the vicinity of Baie-Saint-Paul.

DAY 5

WHERE TO START THE DAY

Down du Gouffre River in a kayak. Du Gouffre River is an unspoiled salmon river, ideal for recreational kayaking. Many itineraries dotted with easy white waters are available to beginners, families, schools, groups, and the more seasoned. On the schedule: 8 km kayak outing along du Gouffre River and stop for a picnic on a fine sandy beach. Continue your journey to discover the regions of Québec.
