Snow Country Fun in the Haliburton Highlands

DAY 1: WINTER IN ONTARIO'S SNOW COUNTRY

Head north to snow country in the Haliburton Highlands. Arrive at Abbey Gardens for the 'Snowshoe like a Canadian' experience that involves an introduction to snowshoeing and a guided forest therapy hike to connect you to the winter woods. Transfer to your B&B to check-in and settle in. After a welcome orientation, maintain that snowshoe glow by taking it easy or explore nearby trails or communities. After dinner, enjoy the dark sky and the sparkling stars from a cozy campfire. Warm-up with a hot beverage and snack.

DAY 2: ICE CLIMBING IN THE HIGHLANDS

After breakfast, head to the tranquil Haliburton Forest to try your hand (and legs) at ice climbing. No experience is required. The knowledgeable and engaging guide will introduce you to the basics, help you try on equipment, and teach you the safety rules before guiding you up an amazing wall of ice. After climbing enjoy a hot lunch at The Cookhouse. Your next adventure is an introduction to dogsledding. After meeting your team of huskies and learning the fundamentals, you will follow your guide and embark on a ride along scenic forest trails. Transfer back to your B&B for dinner and evening of rest and relaxation after a fun and active day.

DAY 3: ICE FISHING IN HALIBURTON

After breakfast, you'll learn the gentle art and science of ice fishing. Starting with an orientation, you'll soon be outfitted with ice fishing equipment and ready to head out on the ice. You'll be guided to the ice hut out on a serene lake where you'll try your hand at catching fish. Your well-earned lunch today will be at Molly’s Bistro, Suwan’s Thai Restaurant or the Dominion Hotel. Fuel up for the drive home after three great days of winter adventure.
