Statement from Jason Sarracini, Founder & CEO, Landsby
December 3, 2025
Toronto, ON — I’m proud to share that Landsby has been named a Finalist for the 2025 Regenerative Climate Award, a recognition that reflects our ongoing commitment to climate action and community-led travel across Canada. The Award highlights organizations that advance regenerative solutions and demonstrate measurable, long-term impact – values that sit at the core of our work – and we are honoured to be recognized in the company of other meaningful international initiatives.
The judging panel – composed of international leaders in sustainability, journalism, storytelling, hospitality, and design – will evaluate all finalists based on regenerative principles, measurable outcomes, innovation, and long-term contributions to people and planet.
Our team’s efforts continue to centre around meaningful partnerships that restore ecosystems and strengthen communities. This includes our collaboration with Canada’s Forest Trust, where Landsby invested in the creation of a Smart Forest in the endangered Acadian forest region of New Brunswick. Designed to capture carbon, enhance biodiversity, and provide lasting environmental and educational benefits, the forest will also be preserved and protected for 100+ years under the long-term stewardship of Canada’s Forest Trust.
You can follow our impact and ongoing climate contributions through our Smart Forest dashboard here: https://my.canadasforesttrust.ca/en/public/our-forest/CFT-WIPSSL
Much of this work is also shared through Northern Soul, our editorial platform dedicated to amplifying community voices – hosts, knowledge keepers, and local leaders who model stewardship and reciprocity. Their stories shape a deeper understanding of what regenerative travel can look like across Canada’s regions.
We’re honoured to be included among this year’s finalists and remain committed to helping shape a more regenerative future for Canadian travel.
CTV News – Jason Sarracini, founder and CEO of Landsby, a Canadian domestic travel website, says there may be some cross-border traffic in upstate New York, but his company isn’t “seeing anything meaningful.” However, Sarracini did say one spot within Canada is getting lots of attention. “Atlantic Canada is the one that’s really stood out this year,” Sarracini said. “It’s that destination, which is pretty intimate, gives you a really good sense of the people and the flavour, and is not as expensive as the West Coast and the Rockies in the summer.”
The Globe and Mail — When guests arrive at Klahoose Wilderness Resort, an off-grid luxury resort in Desolation Sound, B.C., it’s by water taxi, and they’re invited to participate in a traditional arrival protocol, which includes respectfully asking permission to come ashore. In response, staff extend their hospitality and affirm their responsibility: to protect their community and land, while also treating guests with kindness and respect.
Recognizing the surging enthusiasm for authentic domestic travel, two leading Canadian travel innovators, OpenJaw.com and Landsby, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at equipping travel advisors with the knowledge and resources necessary to champion and sell exceptional Canadian experiences, driving significant growth within the national tourism sector.
Recent reports indicate that more Canadians are considering staying closer to home for their travel plans. Factors like the weak Canadian dollar, ongoing trade issues, and a desire to support Canadian businesses and destinations may be contributing to this trend. Landsby was featured by Global National on March 14th, 2025.
The Storyteller of the Year category honors individuals and organizations whose powerful storytelling catalyzes change by inspiring conscious travel and environmental stewardship. These finalists are masters of their craft, using diverse mediums to amplify voices, protect cultures, and spark transformative action.
The Peak — More people are trading in Disney World vacations and Caribbean cruises for a chance to see the dancing green and purple skies in some of Canada’s most remote communities.
Driving the news: Northern lights hot spots like the Yukon and Manitoba are seeing a spike in interest this year, Jason Sarracini, CEO of Canadian travel company Landsby, told The Peak. In the past year, he’s seen a ~25% jump in bookings just for northern lights tours.
