DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN MONTREAL

Upon arrival at Montréal Airport, you will be welcomed by your local representative and transferred to your downtown hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the city’s vibrant winter atmosphere, illuminated streets, and renowned culinary scene.

Accommodation: DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal hotel (or similar)

DAY 2: INTO THE LAURENTIANS - WELCOME TO MEKOOS

After breakfast on your own, depart around 8:00 a.m. and travel north into the Laurentians toward Pourvoirie Mekoos, set on the shores of Lake Iroquois. Upon arrival, you will be equipped with full cold-weather gear before enjoying a welcome cocktail, and settling into your cabin. After lunch, meet your guide for a full safety briefing and snowmobile orientation, then head out for your first ride across Mekoos’ private trail network, a first introduction to Québec’s vast winter wilderness.

DAY 3: SNOWMOBILING ON THE KIAMIKA RESERVOIR

Set out for a full day of snowmobiling deep into the Laurentian backcountry toward the spectacular Kiamika Reservoir, a vast frozen expanse surrounded by untouched forest. The route continues through scenic wilderness trails toward Chute-Saint-Philippe, an area known for frequent wildlife sightings including deer. A stop at a local restaurant offers a warm break before returning to the outfitter for a relaxed evening in the comfort of your cabin.

DAY 4: MONTAGNE DU DIABLE & SUGAR SHACK EXPERIENCE

Today’s ride brings you to one of the region’s most impressive viewpoints, Montagne du Diable, the second-highest peak in the Laurentians, offering sweeping panoramic views over frozen lakes and forested valleys. A stop at Windigo Falls adds a striking natural highlight before continuing to a traditional sugar shack, where you will enjoy a classic Québecois meal infused with maple flavours and local tradition. Return to Mekoos for a relaxing evening, with time to unwind in the outdoor hot tub surrounded by winter stillness.

DAY 5: DOG SLEDDING ADVENTURE

Experience a full day of dog sledding through quiet, snow-covered forest trails, guiding your own team of huskies or riding as a passenger while learning the timeless connection between musher and dogs. This traditional winter experience echoes the heritage of trappers and voyageurs who once travelled these same landscapes. Midday, gather for a rustic lunch in a remote forest shelter before returning to the kennel at dusk, followed by a peaceful evening by the lodge fireplace.

DAY 6: ICE FISHING & SNOWSHOEING

Accompanied by a local trapper, discover the traditional art of ice fishing on a frozen lake, learning techniques passed down through generations while trying your hand at catching brook trout. In the afternoon, explore the surrounding forest on a guided snowshoe excursion, gaining insight into traditional trapping methods and the region’s winter ecology. Return to the lodge for a final evening of comfort and relaxation in the heart of the wilderness.

DAY 7: RETURN TO MONTREAL

After breakfast, depart the outfitter and travel back to Montréal, crossing the Laurentian landscapes one last time as your winter adventure comes to an end.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Age & Licensing Requirements:
    • Minimum age to drive a snowmobile: 18 years old (valid driver’s license required – car or 125cc motorcycle)
    • Minimum age to be a passenger: 11 years old (both feet must reach the footrests)
    • Snowmobile rental: A rental agreement must be signed upon arrival. A valid credit card in the driver’s name is required for the security deposit. Drivers must carry their license and rental agreement with them at all times
  • Accommodation & Group Logistics:
    • Room occupancy: Maximum of 2 people per room, triple and quadruple occupancy not available
    • Minimum group size: At least 2 snowmobiles are required for a solo departure
    • 1 professional snowmobile guide for a maximum of 8 snowmobiles
  • Equipment & Packing Guidelines:
    • Clothing: Avoid cotton; balaclava is mandatory (provided)
    • Luggage: A medium transport bag is provided per snowmobile. If two people share a snowmobile, they share one bag. Main luggage is stored at the starting point and retrieved at the end
  • Snowmobile Tour Details:
    • Snowmobiles: 4-stroke, eco-friendly, odorless, and smokeless
    • Tips: Suggested tip for snowmobile guides is $15 CAD per person, per day
    • Security deposit: $3,000 CAD (plus tax) per snowmobile, held via credit card imprint
  • Insurance & Deductible:
    • Deductible: Ranges from $2,500 to $3,500 CAD, depending on the provider. In case of damage, the deposit is used first. The client covers any additional amount up to the deductible. Damages beyond the deductible are covered by the rental company’s insurance
    • Travel insurance: Strongly recommended (cancellation, repatriation, medical, baggage, etc.)
  • Responsibilities & Program Flexibility:
    • Participants are expected to follow all local laws and snowmobile regulations
    • In case of early withdrawal from the snowmobile tour, repatriation fees may apply
    • Itinerary and accommodations may change due to weather, trail conditions, or operational needs
    • The guide’s decisions regarding safety and logistics are final
