Many places in Ontario are shaped by their proximity to lakes and rivers, and the Kawarthas Northumberland region is no exception. Northumberland County is bordered by Rice Lake to the north and Lake Ontario to the south, with pretty towns to visit all along the shores. The adjoining Kawarthas area includes 250 lakes, rivers and waterways within its borders and links to the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. Canoeing, boating and fishing opportunities abound. Hiking trails for all levels are available throughout the region, including the trek that crosses the scenic Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge.
From cottage getaways and cultural tours to exploring the sugar maple trail and canoe expeditions along Ontario’s myriad rivers and waterways, Kawarthas Northumberland embraces nature’s beauty and tranquillity.
