Your winter adventure in the Northwest Territories starts in Yellowknife where you will board a bush plane for a scenic 25-minute flight to Blachford Lake. Accessible by bush plane only, Blachford Lake is located north of the East Arm of Great Slave Lake.

A winter wonderland awaits you when you arrive at this fly-in wilderness resort: wide vistas over the 17-km frozen lake, snow-covered boreal forest, cozy indoor spaces and fresh northern air. Winter outdoor activities include cross-country skiing on 20 kilometres of groomed trails, snowshoeing, sliding, ice skating, fat-biking, kick-sledding and snowmobile tours (at an additional charge). Strap on your snowshoes, or stick to your winter boots and try to spot some northern wildlife on a walk. Ice fishing is also available, but please note that fishing licences must be purchased prior to arrival.

Spend your evenings relaxing in the cozy lounge areas or in the sauna, or kick back in the hot tub while watching the Aurora dance overhead. The Northwest Territories has been credited the “Aurora Capital of the World” as there is a 98% chance of seeing the Aurora during a three night visit. As this lodge is only accessible by bush plane, there are no roads and no light pollution from nearby towns, cities, cabins, or road traffic to distract from your Northern Lights viewing experience.
