Day 1: Arrival in Yellowknife

Enjoy all that Yellowknife has to offer with a stay right in the heart of the city. Yellowknife is a walkable city but there is also a taxi service available. Explore the small downtown core that has some unique shops and an incredible array of restaurants offering cuisine from around the world.

In the evening you’ll head to the Aurora Village with your guide for your first night of Aurora viewing. The location, away from city lights, is set up for maximum comfort during the evening and night of watching the Northern Lights, with heated teepees and an onsite restaurant that serves good food as well as wine and beer until midnight.

Accommodation: Explorer Hotel (or similar)

Day 2: Explore Yellowknife

Spend the day at leisure exploring some of Yellowknife’s top attractions. We recommend a visit to the Prince of Wales Heritage Centre, the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly. We also recommend walking around Downtown and the Old Town – which will give you a great overview of life in the north.

In the evening, your guide will once again take you for a night of Aurora viewing at the nearby Aurora Village.

Day 3: Explore Yellowknife

Spend the day at leisure exploring Yellowknife further. Be sure to try some of the cool local food options for which Yellowknife is known. Have a pint with the locals at the Woodyard Brewhouse, try arctic char sashimi at the local sushi spot or head to the fun and eclectic Bullocks Bistro.

Enjoy one last night of Aurora viewing at the Village. They say that those who visit the Aurora Village for three nights in the winter, have a 95% chance of seeing the Northern Lights. While weather conditions and Aurora sightings can never be guaranteed, those are some pretty great odds!
