We had a fabulous time full of adventures, dog sledding was my absolute favourite activity, it was so amazing and the snowmobiling was super fun, no surprises that it was Hayden’s (my eldest) favourite activity getting to drive his own snowmobile!
Day 1:
You will be picked up at the Whitehorse airport and transferred to your resort. The resort is located within the traditional territory of the Carcross / Tagish First Nation, about an hour and 20 min south of Whitehorse, on the edge of a beautiful lake. This will be your home base to explore the rugged beauty and vastness of Yukon's northern landscape.
The resort generates its own electricity, with a modern system of solar cells, lithium batteries and diesel generators. The generators don't have to run for large parts of the year.
Your winter clothing rental will be waiting for you at the lodge.
Settle into your lakefront cabin. In the evening, enjoy a chef-prepared 3-course meal. Relax in your lakefront cabin for the evening and keep an eye on the skies for Aurora activity. On clear nights, the Northern Lights can be seen simply by stepping outside on your balcony.
Day 2:
Wake up to the quiet of the wilderness. Your breakfast will be served in the restaurant of the main building. Enjoy a fresh selection of breakfast items, the perfect fuel for a day of exploration. Situated on the calm right arm of Tagish Lake, among the boreal forest, the lodge has plenty of scenic beauty to explore.
Go snowshoeing in the woods and keep an eye out for winter wildlife. Hear the snow crunch under your snowshoes as you climb a hill to enjoy fantastic views over the frozen landscape. Your getaway includes two days of snowshoe rentals as well as an introductory lesson in using them. This slow, peaceful activity brings you up close with life in the far north.
After a day of activity, enjoy a cocktail in the lounge or linger over an afternoon coffee or tea as you gaze out at the beautiful surroundings. Dinner is a 3-course meal served in the restaurant.
In the evening, wait for nature's light show in the comfort of your cabin.
The log cabins are traditionally built but contain modern touches, such as WIFI and efficient propane heaters, to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. You could spend all day enjoying the unbeatable view from your balcony and all evening watching the Aurora.
Day 3:
After another hearty breakfast, enjoy some relaxation in your cabin or head out for more winter activities.
Try a new snowshoe route or opt to add on one of the other fun winter adventures your resort offers (additional costs apply), such as a snowmobile tour, dog sledding or cross country skiing.
Dinner is once again at the lakeside restaurant where the chef will prepare you a 3-course meal using local ingredients whenever possible. As this is your last night at the resort, you might choose to linger over a cocktail in the lounge chatting with some of the other travellers you've met or head for a rest in your cabin before one last night of Aurora Borealis viewing.
Day 4:
Enjoy a final amazing breakfast before your shuttle takes you back to Whitehorse.
Prices are based on double occupancy in a Lakefront Cabin including winter clothing rental. Upgrades to Family Lakefront and Deluxe Lakeview are available upon request
