Day 1:
Arrive at your hotel, which is located in the heart of the city not far from the banks of the Yukon River. Historic but trendy, Whitehorse is small and easy to explore on foot.
Overnight: Edgewater Hotel (or similar)
Day 2:
In the morning, take a scenic float plane ride from Whitehorse to the Tincup Wilderness Lodge. You’ll land on the sparkling waters of Tincup Lake surrounded by the spectacular Ruby Range Mountains and kilometres of complete wilderness.
Settle into your private log cabin, which features all the necessary amenities for complete comfort and has one of the highest standards for guests of any wilderness lodge in the Yukon. The lodge only has accommodations for up to 10 guests at a time, making it a quiet and intimate setting. Enjoy the rest of the day in relaxation.
All meals are included in your stay. Food is cooked using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, including herbs and lettuce from the lodge’s own garden.
Days 3-7:
No matter how long your stay at Tincup Wilderness Lodge, the itinerary of each day is completely up to you.
Those looking to get out on the water have access to kayaks, canoes, rowboats and stand up paddle boards. Tincup Lake is 17 km long and up to 2.5 km wide, with plenty of beautiful spots to explore. Gliding over the water in virtual silence provides excellent opportunities for observing wildlife on shore.
You will also be provided with a new Lund boat and engine (which accommodates two guests) to use for exploring the lake or fishing.
Fishing is very popular at the lodge as Tincup Lake has an outstanding reputation for its reel fishing, fly fishing and wealth of fish in its waters, including Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike and various kinds of Whitefish.
Hiking near the lodge ranges from easy hikes through the moss-floored woodlands to more demanding mountain routes, ranging in altitude from 1,500 to 2,000 metres. You’ll have a good chance of seeing wildlife during your stay, including eagles, moose, wolves, bears, lynx, caribou, mountain goats and dall sheep.
After a day of hiking, fishing and paddling, return to the comfort of the lodge. You can watch the sun set over the mountains from the comfort of your veranda, take in a sauna or soak in the hot tub while enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, lake and wilderness. At night, marvel at the billions of stars overhead. The Northern Lights are visible from mid-August.
The lodge is nearly 100 percent solar powered and uses environmentally friendly products throughout the property. Drinking water is sanitized using a Sterilight UV system so no harsh chemicals are released into the surroundings.
