DAY 1: ARRIVE IN WINNIPEG

Arrive independently in Winnipeg and settle into your hotel near the airport. In the evening, meet your interpretive guide and fellow travellers for a welcome reception. Learn about the days ahead, from Churchill’s cultural heritage to the science behind the aurora, before resting up for your early flight north.

DAY 2: FLY TO CHURCHILL – LOCAL TOUR & DAN’S DINER

Take an early flight to Churchill and step into the heart of Canada’s subarctic. A guided town and area tour introduces you to local landmarks, wildlife research, and daily life at the edge of Hudson Bay. Later, hear an Indigenous storyteller share community history and northern traditions. As night falls, dine at Dan’s Diner, a pop-up restaurant set on the frozen tundra, followed by your first chance to view the northern lights.

DAY 3: MUSEUMS, POLAR BEARS INTERNATIONAL HOUSE – AURORA VIEWING

Begin at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre for an overview of Churchill’s ecology and exploration history. Continue to the Itsanitaq Museum to see Inuit carvings and tools that trace life in the North through centuries. Visit the Polar Bears International House to learn about Arctic wildlife and climate research. This evening, retreat to the Thanadelthur Lounge, a warm, secluded spot chosen for its open skies and aurora visibility.

DAY 4: SNOWSHOE TREK – TUNDRA BUGGY® ADVENTURE – AURORA IN THE FOREST

Spend the morning on a guided snowshoe trek, with optional fat-biking for those seeking a faster pace. Your guide interprets animal tracks and the adaptations that define subarctic life. In the afternoon, board a Tundra Buggy® for a journey across the frozen landscape, a rare chance to access the vast expanse beyond town. After dinner, travel to a forested site for another evening of aurora viewing beneath the open northern sky.

DAY 5: DAY 5: DOG SLEDDING – RETURN TO WINNIPEG

Meet a local musher and their team of sled dogs for an interpretive experience in Churchill’s long tradition of dog power. Learn about the relationship between musher and dogs before gliding through a snow-covered trail. In the evening, board your return flight to Winnipeg and settle into a comfortable airport hotel for your final night.

  • Rates are based on double occupancy
  • This tour is subject to availability at time of booking
  • A $750 per person non-refundable deposit is required, with the remaining balance due 120 days prior to arrival

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Mandatory Waiver: All guests must sign a waiver
  • Required Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory
  • Baggage Allowance: One checked bag (up to 50 lbs/23 kg) and one small carry-on
  • Group Size: Tours typically have a maximum group size (often around 22 guests) to ensure a quality experience
  • Age Requirement: The minimum age is 10, however the experience is strongly recommended for travellers aged 12 and up
  • Activity Level: Moderate*. Guests should have reasonable mobility. Activities involve walking on uneven terrain, and getting on/off the Tundra Buggy and other vehicles. Exception: Snowshoe Trek & Dog Sledding are rated High level
  • Packing for the Arctic Climate: Weather in Churchill can be unpredictable and extremely cold in October and November. Essential items include thermal underwear, warm sweaters, snow pants, wool socks, insulated gloves or mitts, a hat, scarf, and warm, rubber-soled winter boots. For added convenience, gear rentals with Canada Goose parkas, snow pants, and Baffin boots are available at an additional cost
