New Brunswick: Fundy Coast and Acadian Forest

Saint John's historic waterfront, a Bay of Fundy coastline most travellers never reach, and a handbuilt retreat tucked deep in the forest

New Brunswick rewards the traveller who takes their time with it. Begin in Saint John, where brick heritage buildings line the hills above a working harbour and the downtown invites exploration on foot. Discover one of the most dramatic and least visited stretches of coastline on the Bay of Fundy. From there the journey continues deeper into the province to a small handbuilt forest retreat where the pace slows considerably and a private outdoor wellness area tucked into the trees is reserved exclusively for you.

Itinerary/Overview

DAY 1: SAINT JOHN

Saint John is your entry point into New Brunswick, a compact walkable city built on hills above a working harbour. Check into the Harbourfront Hotel, drop your bags, and head out on foot. The uptown core is close by, brick heritage buildings, independent restaurants, the historic City Market, and a waterfront that rewards an evening stroll. We'll share a few local favourites to get you started, but the best discoveries here are often the ones you stumble into yourself.

Accommodation: Saint John Harbourfront Hotel (or similar)

DAY 2: FUNDY TRAIL PROVINCIAL PARK

The drive east from Saint John takes you through St. Martins, a small shipbuilding village worth a coffee stop and, if the tide is out, a walk into the sandstone sea caves along the shore. From there the Fundy Trail Parkway unfolds along thirty kilometres of clifftop road with marked lookouts, short coastal trails, and waterfalls tucked into the forest. One of the most dramatic and least visited stretches of coastline in eastern Canada. Take your time with it and plan for a full day.

Meal: Breakfast
Accommodation: Saint John Harbourfront Hotel (or similar)

DAY 3: SAINT JOHN TO LA BELLE CABANE

The drive northwest from Saint John passes through small town New Brunswick, a good opportunity to stop and pick up a few provisions for the cabin. La Belle Cabane is less than an hour from the city but feels considerably further. A small handbuilt retreat tucked into the forest, the cabins are simple and comfortable, built for people who want to slow down rather than be entertained. A fire, a forest, a good book, good company if you have it. Arrive in the afternoon and let the pace shift on its own.

Meal: Breakfast
Accommodation: La Belle Cabane

DAY 4: LA BELLE CABANE

Today is simple by design. Fresh air in the morning, rest in the afternoon. The morning is yours to shape, a walk in the forest, a drive to a nearby beach, or a slow start on the cabin steps with nowhere to be. This afternoon a private outdoor wellness area at La Belle Cabane is reserved exclusively for you, a forest setting with a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub, salt room, and heated stone beds. Three hours with nowhere to be and no one else around. The evening is yours, cook in the cabin or venture out for dinner.

Accommodation: La Belle Cabane

DAY 5: DEPARTURE

Checkout is at 11. Take the morning slowly, one last coffee on the cabin steps before loading up the car. The drive back to Saint John takes less than an hour, leaving plenty of time for a late breakfast in the city or a final wander before heading to the airport
