Capturing The Beauty Of Waterton Lakes In Pictures
Tucked away in the south of Alberta is Waterton Lakes National Park — a gorgeous wilderness area with clear lakes, multi-hued rocks, thundering waterfalls and jaw-dropping mountain vistas.
While it may not be as well known as some of Alberta’s other national parks, Waterton Lakes is just as worthy of a visit as its more famous counterparts. At just 505 square kilometres, it is small but mighty: more than half of Alberta’s plant species are found in this park, as well as 60 species of mammals and 250 species of birds. The hiking trails here are some of the most scenic in the country and the small waterfront village tucked inside the park makes for the perfect home base for those looking to explore.
It is a great park for all types of travellers, whether you’re up for a challenging hike or looking for more family-friendly trails.
