Start Planning: Six Epic Adventures For Summer 2022
Summer 2021 may be in the books but we think this is the perfect time to start dreaming about next summer’s adventures. While Canada has many amazing winter activities to keep you busy during the cold months, we wanted to offer you a little inspiration for planning warm-weather summer adventures for 2022. Get a head start with these incredible itineraries that offer small-group, unique travel. Whether you want to explore by land or water, these epic adventures are all about slowing down and seeing the beauty of Canada at your own pace. Where will your next adventure take you?
Peddle Across Mountains
There are many ways to explore the Canadian Rockies. You can drive or take a train; you can camp or stay in a lodge. But perhaps the most incredible way to get a sense of the scope of this region is to bike it. Cycle the 300-km route from Jasper to Banff, biking along the famed Icefields Parkway on a four-day, fully supported cycling tour that allows you to experience the stunning scenery with nothing to restrict your views. You’ll traverse through two national parks at a calm pace that allows plenty of time to breathe in the mountain air and take in the endless views of glaciers, lakes, ancient forests and wildlife.
Cycle The Cabot Trail
Another cycling adventure to add to your “must-ride” list is this epic six-day biking trip through Nova Scotia’s famous Cabot Trail. The slow pace of cycling allows you to take in the breathtaking beauty of the Atlantic coastline as you bike through charming towns and over rolling hills. You’ll cycle between mountain and sea as the road hugs the coastline, offering stunning ocean views along the way. It isn’t unheard of for cyclists to see whales in the distance and eagles flying above.
Sail Into The Wild
The Great Bear Rainforest spans 6.4 million hectares on British Columbia’s remote central and northern coast. It is a unique ecosystem with rich biodiversity and a strong Indigenous culture. It is home to some of Canada’s most iconic wildlife: grizzlies, humpback whales, wolves and the elusive all-white Spirit Bear. Sail into the depths of this magical region on an eight-day adventure that includes a day spent with a Gitga’at First Nations guide searching for bears, a visit to the Fiordland Conservancy to see towering cliffs and waterfalls and many surprises along the way. It is an unspoiled wilderness few get to experience.
Family Paddle In Quebec
Take the whole family — or a group of friends — along on this two-day breathtaking kayak adventure on the Saguenay Fjord. Enjoy the towering cliffs as you paddle along the water’s edge in this ancient glacial valley. This expedition takes in the beauty of both the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park and the Saguenay Fjord National Park at a leisurely pace. The evening is spent by a campfire, eating gourmet meals and staring at the expansive night sky.
Wander Off The Beaten Path In Newfoundland
Discover hidden gems and dramatic vistas that few visitors get to see on this amazing weeklong adventure in Newfoundland. This trip is all about slowing down: hike at your own pace in the wilds of Gros Morne National Park, take a leisurely boat ride into the Western Brook Pond (where 2000-foot cliffs and spectacular waterfalls will stun you with their beauty), and meander through a restored 1000-year-old Viking village. For one spectacular night, enjoy accommodations at an isolated inn on the northern tip of Newfoundland. Here you will spot iceberg and whales at an alarmingly close distance and experience what life was like for a lighthouse keeper. The adventure keeps going as you explore the Northern Peninsula. An unforgettable experience.
Mountain Trek In BC
Take camping to the next level on a one-of-a-kind adventure in British Columbia. On this three-day expedition, you will learn how to properly pack a backpack for mountain trekking and the principles of backcountry camping — and then you’ll put that knowledge to good use as you hike and camp along the Howe Sound Crest Trail. Trek along the summits of the coast mountains and take in incredible backcountry views of mountains, glacial lakes, and the ocean beyond. This is truly spectacular wilderness.
